New Shielding Guidance
As you will know, those who fell into this category were previously advised to shield. From 1st April 2021 they will no longer be advised to shield but are advised to take extra precautions to protect themselves and the PHE news release here includes practical steps on keeping safe, covering matters such as socialising, travelling and going to work and school.
The guidance also explains that from 1 April 2021 people will no longer be eligible for Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) or Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) solely on the basis of being advised to shield.
Any individuals with concerns about their health and safety at work are advised to raise this with their employer, workplace union, the HSE or local authority.
