DBS Identity Checking
Important Information Regarding Changes to DBS Identity (ID) Checking Guidelines.
The DBS have recently introduced some changes to the identity checking process to align these with right to work checks. The right to work checks ensure that employers prevent illegal working in the UK by carrying out document checks on people before employing them to make sure they are allowed to work.
The new ID checking guidelines were introduced on 24 October 2017 and apply to both standard and enhanced DBS applications.
The DBS recognised the need for organisations to be able to make the necessary system and guidance changes for their customers and as a result have enabled the new guidelines to run in parallel with the existing guidelines up to 25 January 2018, when the existing guidelines will cease to apply.
We are currently in the process of ensuring that these changes are applied to our DBS Online service and we will contact you in the New Year to let you know in more detail about the system enhancements and any additional information you will need on the new ID checking guidelines.
