The DfE guidance makes it clear that education settings must provide a safe environment for all children and that they must take action to identify and protect any children or young people who are at risk of significant harm. As part of their safeguarding responsibilities, organisations must also prevent unsuitable people from working with children and young people, promote safe practice and challenge unsafe practice and to ensure that staff receive the necessary training for their roles.

As such, good practice in safeguarding should be a feature of every school or academy and is an essential part of the fabric of the organisations which involves paying attention to the implementation of appropriate policies and procedures and focuses on the needs of all pupils.
