Managing performance is a continuous process which involves making sure that the performance of employees contributes to the goals of their teams and the wider strategic direction. The way to manage performance should be fair to all staff and decisions should be based on merit; managers must not discriminate against employees in the way they manage performance.
The Appraisal Policy is used to manage teachers’ performance in a yearly cycle. Any areas of concern or poor performance are initially addressed as part of this Appraisal cycle and then if no improvement is made the employee will be managed using the Capability Policy. It is vital to adopt a policy and procedure to ensure matters are handled consistently.
