Regular attendance at work is part of every employee's contract of employment and the overall management aim is to minimise absence levels across the workplace. However, it is recognised that employees will on occasion have genuine and acceptable health reasons to be absent from work.  On these occasions attendance management is used as a tool for employers to do what is reasonably possible to support an employee during the period of absence, with the aim of assisting their return to work at the earliest opportunity.

The Attendance Managment Policy covers both the short term intermittent absence process and long term absence process (4 weeks or more). The supporting documentation below has been designed to ensure that employers are able to deal with any absence in a fair and consistent way.
