Research recently carried out by LinkedIn has found that the ways in which organisations and its employees are interacting are profoundly changing. In its latest Global Talent Trends 2019 report, LinkedIn’ report found four key areas that ‘talent professionals’ agree are most prevalent to recruitment and HR. It has been found by LinkedIn in its research conducted with 5,000+ talent professionals in 35 countries, that is agreed that soft skills – 91%, work flexibility – 72%, Anti-Harassment – 71%, and Pay Transparency – 53% are imperative to the on-going success for Human Resources and Recruitment. Soft skills such as personal attributes that enable someone to interact effectively and harmoniously with other people are being pushed, over hard skills such as knowledge of coding and technical skills. With the development of software and technology that is making previously inaccessible or difficult to attain knowledge bases being more readily available for colleague with less experience, but an eagerness to learn; are making the available pool of employees with skills to undertake certain tasks wider and more diverse. |

Additionally Pay transparency is being advocated for the confidence it imparts in employees, compared to the way in which pay has been shrouded in mystery as a taboo topic; especially in UK workplaces. By making pay more transparent, it is believed that employees will feel more appreciated and that their pay is fair and representative of their responsibilities. The Anti-Harassment movement in the workplace today has been taking leaps and bounds to ensure that people feel comfortable and safe in the workplace. By promoting this, we should see a fairer and more diverse workplace, bringing people from all walks of life and backgrounds together to create a more harmonious and fair workplace. |
Finally, work-flexibility is being advocated by the aforementioned talent professionals, for the adaptively and freedom it gives colleagues to achieve their goals, and overall the objectives of the workforce. With an increase in the last decade, more work-flexibility is being pushed to accommodate workers; either freeing up workspaces, or creating more dynamic environments to suit different work styles and industries. With an ever-changing workforce, the need to develop new working techniques and understanding our employees is becoming more important than ever before.
